KTEN's Sterling Riggs to Emcee Style Show
2010-01-29 19:11:13Durant Main Street will hold their Eleventh Annual Spotlight on Special Occasions Style Show presented by Lifespan Counseling on Saturday, February 6, 2010. The event will feature Sterling Riggs, KTEN anchor, as emcee of the style shows held throughout the day. Local businesses that provide services and merchandise of interest to those planning special events will be set up as vendors.
Riggs joined the KTEN news team from the sunny white beaches of Destin, Florida. After four years working in the corporate world as COO of a local development company, Sterling decided to get back in the news business.
Although new to KTEN, Sterling is not new to TV nor Texas. He started his career at KLST in San Angelo as a weekend news anchor and most recently worked at KXAN in Austin also spending time as an intern at KTHV in Little Rock, Arkansas and WEAR in Pensacola, Florida.
One of four siblings, Sterling graduated high school from Fort Walton Beach High School; he earned his broadcasting degree from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas where he also played football. While in college, he also had the opportunity to study in Florence, Italy.
When not at work, Sterling loves to spend time with family, go to the beach, fishing, flying, and anything outdoors. He says that he is excited to be back in the news business. According to Sterling, "As one of my professors Dr. Dutch Hoggatt once told me, that when you have news in your blood, it is hard to get out!"
The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Visual and Performing Arts Center. Vendor booths will be open for viewing and visiting throughout the fair. Displays, handouts, and sample books will be available. Vendor demonstrations will occur throughout the day. Caterers will be highlighting their specialties in a food section.
At noon, 1:00, and 2:00, style shows of the latest fashions will be held. Common fashion mistakes will be corrected on the runway. Information will be available on how to look your best every day or at your own very special event. Models from several local schools were selected from a modeling clinic.
