Music on Market Square
2009-07-08 21:09:18Durant Main Street announced Alex Baker and students at Jill Brown Studios will be this week’s featured talent playing and singing on Music on Market Square. Students of Jill Brown performing will include Jadyn Ridling, Ashley Shannon, Emily Shannon, and Madi Bell.
Thursday’s group of Jill Brown’s students often performs at places such as Main Street Showcase in Denison. Many students live in Bryan County and/or have family in the area. The up and coming talent will provide quality entertainment with enthusiasm.
Alex Baker is a crowd favorite with his fiddle. He can play for hours, and he is very good with requests. The Orange Blossom Special, gospel favorites, and old-time country tunes are his most requested.
The public is invited to the outdoor stage at First and Evergreen in Downtown Durant to hear good praise music in a relaxed atmosphere. It will begin Thursday night at 7 p.m.
Durant Main Street Program Manager Donna Dow looks forward to hearing the lineup. “We often host Miss Jill’s students, and the talent level is outstanding. I look forward to hearing more from them this week.”
The Thursday night concerts through September are called Music on Market Square. July 16 will feature Johnnie Peters and friends.
