Western Week Activities Announced

2009-06-05 17:39:56

The Durant Roundup Club has announced that it will be hosting the annual rodeo on June 12-13. Club President Chuck Varner is looking forward to this year’s production. He wants to be sure everything is top notch. “Wing Rodeo Company will be the stock contractor, and we want to make sure key personnel are in place to make the rodeo run smoothly.”

The two-day rodeo will be CRRA and UPRA approved. There will be $400 added money for each event. This should attract all the top cowboys competing in the regional circuits.

Four young ladies would be glad to sell tickets for the rodeo and club memberships. Jordan Bacon, Heather Childs, and Tina Peden are running for Roundup Club Queen, and Jaelin Lyday is running for princess.

Durant Main Street, the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Durant Roundup Club will be working with the club on a Western Week. A special night on Market Square featuring country and western activities, performances, and music is planned for Thursday, June 11. Karaoke Night will begin at 6 p.m. and will include a Little Cowboy and Little Cowgirl. Dirtbag will play at 7 p.m.

-Best Decorated Car or Truck
-Best Dressed Rider and Horse
-Best Riding Club.
Other activities will include contests for businesses. Trophies will be awarded for Best Dressed Business and Best Decorated Business.
